Helping out our own...

Deputy Marco Cantu has served with the Harris County Sheriff's Department for 16 year.  He is a husband and father to three young boys.  Cantu is an active member of New Hope Church where he serves as an usher.

Marco Cantu is currently serving as an Investigator with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

On September 17, 2007 one of Marco Cantu's worst nightmare came true when his 5 year old son got struck by a minivan and thrown over 30 feet.

The impact caused a femur fracture and complete break.  He was transported to Clear-Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.  After evaluation he was then transported to Texas Children's Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Marco's son under went surgery having a bone reset and (2) Ten inch rods into his bone marrow for stabilization.  He was hospitalized for six days after the surgery.  Upon release, he was confined to a wheel chair for several weeks due to limited mobility.

With intensive physical therapy, he transitioned to a two-hand walker, and subsequently to a single hand walking cane.

On December of 2007 he was re-admitted to Texas Children's Hospital for a second surgery.

The long term prognosis looks good with the continuation of intensive physical therapy.

10-33 wishes the Cantu family our best and our prayers go out to you.

Check back for updates regarding the Cantu family.

Forest Hill attended Alvin Community College Law Enforcement Academy in 2002.  I (Greg Hernandez) had the honor of being in the same class as Hill.  Hill was elected class Captain and proved to be a great leader.  Hill always was a positive person and helped many cadets achieve their goal of graduating the ACC Police Academy.

Before Graduating in December of 2002 Forest Hill applied for the Alvin Police Department and secured him a job.  Patrol Officer Hill has been with the City of
Alvin since January of 2003. He was called to Active Duty by the United States Marines and left us temporarily to serve a tour in Iraq. He safely returned and is again serving the City and the Community as a Patrol Officer. Forest and his wife Erin and their three children, Kelsey, Brian and Austin recently purchased a home here in the City.

Brian is three years old and was just diagnosed with Leukemia. TML insurance covers a portion of the huge and growing bigger every day medical bills but the portion of these bills that
Forest and Erin are responsible for will easily reach and surpass $100,000.00. I am sure that everyone can relate to the fact that this would far surpass any of our budgets and lead to even more stress added to what is there already.

10-33 has been planning a Motorcycle Ride for some time now.  The event will take place May 18th 2008 and a portion of the proceeds will go to assist Officer Hill and his family.  We will also be taken up a seperate collection that will go directly to the Hill family.

We hope to see y'all there.

Our prayers are with you Brian.
